INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT ARE DATABASES?

Databases are 'everywhere' you may not know this! Databases are behind most websites, social media, apps and more...You need to know how they work, you will definitely come across them more and more in your lives.

We will discuss what databases are, how they are used and where they are used.

A Database is a piece of software that holds data. It allows us to enter data, organise data, search through data and output data.

A database works by the developer (you) creating tables that can we can enter specific pieces of data into - such as a name, phone number, a purchase, a message on social media.....

Databases are used everywhere now, from shops, schools, websites, social media, space programmes and many many more - can you think of others?

In the project, you will be creating a database using Microsoft Access - usually comes with Microsoft Office.
It is a powerful programme used by many business to hold their 'data'
